Me, in sporadic nutshells
A little up and to the left of reality

5th-Jan-2011 07:56 pm - And, I herefore give up.
So, yesterday, I posted what was possibly the most exciting news I have ever gotten. And I get crickets and cobwebs.

I think if I had posted a general "I suck and I hate me and my life", I would have gotten more response.

So, yeah. Think I'm pretty much done posting on LJ.
24th-Dec-2010 12:34 pm - Just to say....
Happy Christmas Eve, everybody! The blessings of hearth and home, warmth, friends and family and enough to eat on one and all.
2nd-Nov-2010 08:56 pm - On voting.
Let me just say this. If you do *not* vote, please do not complain to me about your dissatisfaction with the government or any part of it. The way I see it, the reward I get for voting is the right to complain when I am outvoted. If you don't vote, you don't get that reward.

Just my humble opinion.
And yes, I voted. I've only missed one election since 1985.
30th-Sep-2010 04:18 pm - Seriously
It really has to totally suck to be the absolute center of the Universe, what with God hating you, and all.

(sorry, all, sometimes it just needs to be said to bring some perspective back.)

EDIT: and no, this is not actually self-directed.

Happy Independence Day!

5th-Jun-2010 08:17 pm - hey
Anybody got a line on a really dirt cheap but playable (and possibly relatively clean) trumpet or coronet?
31st-May-2010 08:30 pm - To Bobby Poindexter (an open letter)
28 years ago, we broke up when you told me you were joining the Navy. You were just too young, but had your parents' permission, so the Navy was going to take you. I couldn't imagine you in the military, having known you as a soft-spoken boy who made me feel special and looked at life with seriousness and silliness through long dark hair and glasses.

Of all my ex boyfriends, I have thought of you more than occasionally. I don't kid myself we would be together now... we were so young, and so much life was ahead of us. I just wonder, every so often, how you are. Did the Navy treat you well? Did you find what you were looking for? Did you marry the right girl and have kids? Would we even recognize each other if we passed on the street? Did you ever become the philosopher I saw in you?

Not a year has passed that I don't wish we had written a few letters once you went off, and with every "military action" the US gets into, I wonder if you are still in, if you went career Navy, if you are safe, if you are happy.

I will probably never know, and that makes me inexpressibly sad.

Blessings on you, Bobby Poindexter. I hope life has been good to you.
Happy Memorial Day, Bobby.
23rd-Jan-2010 01:04 pm - Check it out!
This is my next big event... go check it out and if you can, COME ON OUT! I will be relatively resplendent in my wild west steampunk finery! (And yes, Pixel will have his stilts...)

15th-Dec-2009 08:31 am - This is worth watching...
My Mom sent me this link. It's the employees of a hospital who got together to make this video to raise breast cancer awareness. They mostly dance like I do (badly), but they are having a lot of fun doing it. The key is, at a million hits, Medline will make a rather large donation to the hospital *and* offer free mammograms in the community. Check it out!

gotta get me a pair of pink gloves!
